Position Summary
The aim of the Locus Project is to produce a new historical dictionary of Irish placenames and tribal names to replace Fr Edmund Hogan's Onomasticon Goedelicum. The Locus Project is based in the Department of Early and Medieval Irish at University College Cork, Ireland.
We have previously received funding from Toyota Ireland Ltd., from the Higher Education Authority, from the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS), from An Roinn Gnóthaí Pobail, Tuaithe agus Gaeltachta and from The Heritage Council.
Six volumes of the Historical Dictionary of Irish Placenames have been published to date by the Irish Texts Society along with the proceedings of a one-day seminar on Hogan's Onomasticon and a bibliography of publications on Irish placenames.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
This title will apply to newly qualified Post-Doctoral Researchers and will be considered as a period of training as the researcher will have dual goals in terms of the research project and their own career development. The researcher will be mentored by a Principal Investigator (PI). It is expected that a researcher would spend not more than 3 years at the Post Doctoral level, subject to the term of the project and would then be eligible to compete for a Senior Post Doctoral post advertised by the University.
The primary focus of the Postdoctoral Researcher will be research; however, a particular emphasis during this stage should include (critical points in bold);
  • To become an active member of the Locus Project and to take responsibility for preparing one volume of the Historical Dictionary of Gaelic Placenames for publication under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator/Project Leader.
  • To engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities as required by the Principal Investigator, School or College in order to develop research skills and competencies.
  • To engage in the wider research and scholarly activities of the Department of Early and Medieval Irish.
  • To engage in the dissemination of the results of the research in which they are engaged, as directed by, with the support of and under the supervision of a Principal Investigator.
  • To become familiar with the publication process.
  • To acquire generic and transferable skills (including project management, business skills and postgraduate mentoring/supervision).
  • To gain experience in grant writing.
  • To interact closely with postgraduate research students who are studying for a Masters or a PhD and possibly have an agreed role in supporting these students in their day to day research in conjunction with an academic supervisor.
  • To carry out administrative work to support the programme of research.
  • To carry out additional duties as may reasonably be required within the general scope and level of the post.
  • To contribute to costing research grant proposals and assist in the financial management of a research project.
CRITERIA
  • A primary degree in any period of Irish (Early, Medieval or Modern).
  • A doctorate in an appropriate discipline. Preference will be given to candidates with a doctorate in any period of Irish (Early, Medieval or Modern). 
  • Appropriate research experience with a level of publications appropriate to the post.
  • Appropriate technical competence and accomplishment.
  • A capability of working within a project team to achieve results.
  • Good communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to gaining practical experience working on a research project.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Please note that Garda vetting and international police clearance check may form part of the selection process.
It will be an advantage to candidates to possess the following:
  • Fluency in Irish.
  • A good knowledge of Early and Medieval Irish.
  • An interest in the study of placenames

Missions

Notre équipe (http://www.anhima.fr/spip.php?article1858) est impliquée dans le projet LGPN-Ling d'analyse linguistique, étymologique et sémantique, des anthroponymes grecs antiques (http://clas-lgpn4.classics.ox.ac.uk:8080/exist/apps/lgpn-ling/index.html), connus par les individus répertoriés dans les volumes du Lexicon of Greek Personal Names et la base de données en ligne correspondante, Database Search, consultable sur le site du LGPN de l'université d'Oxford (http://claslgpn2.classics.ox.ac.uk). Il s'agit d'offrir l'explication du sens des anthroponymes grecs, qui n'a jamais été entreprise jusqu'à présent, sinon de façon sporadique et non argumentée dans l'ouvrage dépassé de W. Pape-G. E. Benseler, Wörterbuch der griechischen Eigennamen (1870), et, pour les noms connus par les papyrus, sans argument non plus, dans la base de données en ligne Trismegistos.

Activités

Notre objectif est double :
1. Procurer son indispensable complément sémantique à la base de données en ligne du LGPN, restructurée pour permettre notamment une telle extension (cf. http://www.lgpn.ox.ac.uk/online/index.html) ;
2. Extraire de cette nouvelle base de données un dictionnaire imprimé, destiné à remplacer l'ouvrage centenaire de Friedrich Bechtel : Die historischen Personennamen des Griechischen bis zur Kaiserzeit (1917).

Compétences

Nous sommes à la recherche d'un linguiste helléniste curieux, motivé et prêt à s'impliquer avec la plus grande efficacité, ayant un très bon niveau de français et d'anglais et connaissant d'autres langues modernes et anciennes. Il devra avoir une solide expérience en dialectologie du grec ancien, en étymologie comparée, en morphologie et en sémantique lexicales, et la parfaite maîtrise de la bibliographie afférente. Une expérience en onomastique grecque antique et la connaissance de ce champ bibliographique sont aussi requises. Des connaissances en informatique et l'expérience du travail sur des outils en ligne sont par ailleurs nécessaires. Le candidat doit enfin avoir un dossier de publications exceptionnel, attestant son intérêt pour notamment étymologie, sémantique et onomastique grecques antiques, d'excellentes compétences en communication et une forte capacité à s'intégrer et à travailler avec un groupe de personnes diverses.

Contexte de travail

Le chercheur sera rattaché administrativement au laboratoire ANHIMA, au 2, rue Vivienne, Paris 02, et pourra travailler dans ses locaux, mais ne sera pas tenu d'y être quotidiennement et pourra accomplir les tâches qui lui sont confiées dans n'importe quelle bibliothèque ou autre lieu où il dispose d'une connexion, puisque le renseignement des données peut se faire directement en ligne. Il travaillera en lien direct avec le directeur du projet et d'autres collaborateurs permanents, à la fois du laboratoire ANHIMA, du laboratoire LGPN d'Oxford et d'Orient et Méditerranée. Il aura un plan de travail précis, fixé par le directeur du projet. Révision et correction des données déjà éditées ou proposées par d'autres collaborateurs pourront occuper jusqu'à 50% de son temps.

Contraintes et risques

Le chercheur recruté devra pouvoir se libérer pour une journée de formation préalable à sa prise de fonctions.
Propriété intellectuelle
Toute publication, à titre individuel, du chercheur recruté, concernant des données du LGPN-Ling, devra dorénavant porter en note liminaire la mention suivante : « Le présent travail utilise des données du projet ANR/IUF LGPN-Ling, dir. S. Minon (EPHE-PSL/ANHIMA) et R. Parker (Oxford/LGPN), coord. Cl. Le Feuvre et M. Egetmeyer (Paris-Sorbonne/Orient et Méditerranée) ». Cette condition sera du reste généralisée dès l'ouverture de LGPN-Ling au public.

Die Universität Duisburg-Essen sucht am Campus Essen in der Fakultät für Geisteswisssenschaften am Institut für Anglophone Studien, Fachgebiet Englische Sprachwissenschaft eine/n wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin/wissenschaftlichen Mitarbeiter an Universitäten (Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L, 50 %) im Rahmen des interdisziplinären Beethoven (DFG)-geförderten Project “Memory and ideology in the linguistic landscape: Commemorative (re)naming in East Germany and Poland 1916-2016”

 Das MILL Projekt widmet sich dem komplexen Zusammen spiel von Faktoren, die in der aktiven Gestaltung von Erinnerung und der Darstellung von offizieller Identität und Ideologie als Folge von staatlich-hegemonische Politik der Erinnerungsbildung zusammenwirken. Hauptziel des Projekts ist es, ein kohärentes Modell der Prozesse zu erstellen , die den Wandel der urbanen Toponymie in Mittel-Ost-Europa bedingen, begleiten und kontestieren.

Im Zuge des MILL Projekts wird ein Postdoctoral Fellowship mit Expertise in Urbane Semiotik/Linguistic Landscape/Memory Studies an der Universität Duisburg-Essen ausgeschrieben.

The Department of Finnish, Finno-Ugrian and Scandinavian Studies is Finland’s largest and most diverse centre of research and academic education in Finnish, Swedish and related languages as well as literature written in them. The Department is an internationally renowned centre of learning in Finno-Ugrian and Scandinavian languages as well as home to the world’s largest concentration of Finnish language and literature research and academic teaching. The Department offers seven disciplines.



The Department focuses on several fields, of which those central to Finno-Ugrian language studies include linguistic typology, historical linguistics, minority languages, language contacts, multilingualism, variation and language policy as well as the emerging field of onomastics.

The Department of Finnish, Finno-Ugrian and Scandinavian Studies invites applications for the position of

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

for fixed-term employment from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2019.

The field of the position is Finno-Ugrian language studies.

The appointee’s duties will include full-time research on Finno-Ugrian languages other than Finnish, Hungarian and Estonian. In addition to his or her research work, the postdoctoral researcher will contribute to teaching and supervision as well as other departmental activities. The appointee will also participate in planning research projects.

The salary will be based on level 5 of the requirement scheme for teaching and research positions in the salary system of Finnish universities. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance.

According to the Regulations of the University of Helsinki, an appointee to the position of postdoctoral researcher shall hold a doctoral degree, have the ability to conduct independent scholarly work and have the teaching skills necessary for the position. The appointee is also expected to have good collaboration skills as well as the ability to work proactively and independently.



According to the Government Decree on Universities, postdoctoral researchers are required to be proficient in Finnish or Swedish. They must also have at least satisfactory spoken and written skills in the other national language of Finland (Finnish or Swedish). According to the Regulations of the University, foreign citizens, non-native Finnish citizens or citizens who have not been educated in Finnish or Swedish may be exempted from this requirement without a separate application. To successfully attend to the duties of the position, the appointee must be proficient in English.

I've found the announcement about Fellowship posted by Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research 

Info in English doesn't explain  a lot... I suggest there is more in Italian but I can't find where... One thing is clear: one post-doc is to be hired to research on proper names on the basis of ASAVDA-Archivio Storico Antroponimico dell'Antroponimia Valdostana.
