Dr Paul Cullen, the well-known expert on Kentish names, will head this exploration of all sorts of naming practices – place, family and trade, an exciting educational event where participants will have a chance to ask about intriguing and unusual Kentish names.

This educational event is a joint venture between the Centre for Kent History and Heritage and Kent Archaeological Society. As well as Dr Paul Cullen, other confirmed speakers are Drs Mark Bateson, Ellie Rye, Barrie Cook and Sheila Sweetinburgh. Among the topics speakers will explore are tavern names, early medieval place names and surnames.
Half of any financial surplus from this educational event will be added to the Ian Coulson Memorial Postgraduate Award fund which is used to support and encourage potential CCCU postgraduates to research Kent history topics.
