Congratulations to Cymdeithas Enwau Lleoedd Cymru/Welsh Place-Name Society for receiving a £38,000 lottery grant to develop the project LLWYBRAU.
The Welsh Place-Name Society has been awarded £ 38,000 by the National Lottery to develop a new project that will “collect and record” place names.
The main aims of the project are to raise awareness of the value of place-names as an essential part of Welsh cultural heritage. The Project Llwybrau will encourage people to record those names in order to protect them.
Over the next two years 2019-2021, the association hopes to achieve this at local and national levels by organizing talks, walks and exhibitions.
It is to be built upon the previous project ‘Protect’, which received funding from the National Lottery in 2013.
“The project is relevant to the whole of Wales and everyone who can contribute is welcome,” said the Welsh Place-Name Society. “We look forward to working with individuals, local societies and national organizations.
