The head of Kazakhskan said that it is necessary to identify prominent figures in the history of the state. According to him, these personalities will become key markers of a national identity within the country and beyond.“It is necessary to stop the practice of naming various objects of the figures of the Soviet period, whose biographies are purposefully mythologized for the sake of someone’s personal interests and preferences,” Tokayev said at a meeting of the National Kurultai.
He added that it is necessary to “put things in order” in onomastics comprehensively and consistently. The head of Kazakhstan stressed that the state should deal with this.
