Registration opens for the 2017 ANS Conference

Registration is now open for the 2017 ANS Conference in Austin, TX. The ANS conference will take place in conjunction with the Linguistics Society of American (LSA) Conference from January 5-8, 2017.
To register, you must join the ANS or renew your ANS membership.
Note that to renew your ANS membership, you will be redirected to the Taylor & Francis website where you will need to enter information from your renewal notice.
Once your membership is up to date, please fill out the ANS 2017 Conference Registration Formand send the form, along with payment, to ANS Treasurer Michael McGoff, as per the instructions on the form.

Participate in an ANS Session on American Toponymy at the American Association of Geographers 2017 Annual Conference

  The American Association of Geographers will be holdings its annual conference in the Boston, MA, from the 5th to the 9th of April, 2017. To further encourage ties between the onomastics and geography communities, an ANS session on contemporary US American toponymy is being proposed for the 2017 AAG conference.
If you are interested in being a part of this collaborative session, please send your name, affiliation, and a 400 word abstract (not including a bibliography) as a word document to Dr. I. M. Nick [mavi.yaz@web.de] by September 20, 2016. For processing ease, please be sure to include the phrase “ANS-GEO” in the subject line of your submission.

Second Call for Papers: American Name Society 2017

The ANS is inviting abstract submissions for the 2017 annual conference to be held in conjunction with the Linguistic Society of America.  Abstracts in any area of onomastic research are welcome.
The deadline for receipt of abstracts is June 30, 2016.

To submit a proposal, complete the 2017 Author Information Sheet found here. Please email this completed form to Dr. I. M. Nick [mavi.yaz@web.de]. For organizational purposes, please be sure to include the phrase “ANS 2017” in the subject line of your email.

Presenters who may need additional time to secure international payments and travel visas to the United States are urged to submit their proposal as soon as possible.

All proposals will be subjected to blind review.

Official notification of proposal acceptances will be sent on or before September 30, 2016.
All authors whose papers have been accepted must be current members of the ANS and need to register with both the ANS and the Linguistic Society of America.
