ICOS
Dear colleagues, We are inviting you to contribute to a thematic Onoma volume “Personal Names and Cultural Reconstructions”.
Personal names may show belonging to a specific cultural sphere or linguistic group. Although there are many names common to several cultures, such as names from the main religions, many personal names reveal which part of the world we come from. As personal names often are preserved well in historical documents, they can also help to examine and rebuild past cultures. This volume aims to explore, how names show and create this cultural background, within both historical and contemporary contexts.
We are now calling for article abstracts. In the abstract, you should give the title and a brief description of your article: aim and focus, data and methods, possible preliminary results, and connection to the volume theme. The abstract should be no longer than 300 words. Please send your abstract before November 1 st 2019 by filling in this e-form.
The authors will be notified about the acceptance of their abstracts during November. Full article manuscripts should be submitted for the peer-review until the end of January 2020. The final volume will be published during the summer 2020.
Onoma is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the International Council of Onomastic Sciences (ICOS). The volume will be available online with open access. For more information and past volumes, see Onoma’s website: http://onomajournal.org/
