"I’ve just secured some seed funding for an interesting new project on meanings of medieval anonymity. This will be an exciting venture that takes me beyond administrative texts into literature, sermons and exempla collections, court rolls and more.
The driving question is why is anonymity present in so many medieval textual genres, despite social imperatives for clear and precise identification and intellectual and theological attention to the importance of onomastics as a basis of all knowledge and being. I can’t wait to see where this will lead.
The research will kick off in the UK in June with a pilot project partly funded by the Arts Faculty. Many thanks to them!"
