Four-day voting
Tatarstan has supported the initiative of the Public Chamber of Russia to rename the largest international and federal airports. The start of the project Great Names of Russia has been announced in the republic, as well as throughout the country. Tatarstan citizens are offered to vote for outstanding personalities, in honour of whom to name the international airports Kazan and Begishevo. By the way, Tatarstan is not the only region where several air harbours at once will be renamed. For example, the air hubs of Krasnoyarsk and Norilsk in Krasnoyarsk Krai are also taking part, in Krasnodar Krai – the airports of Krasnodar, Anapa and Sochi. In total, using the data of the Federal Air Transport Agency, 45 largest airports have been selected for the project, the total passenger traffic of which exceeds 170 million people.
''Today we are announcing the collection of proposals from the residents of Tatarstan. You can leave your variants of names in the official group of the project in social networks (vk.com/imena_rt), in all large communities of Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny, Nizhnekamsk. Also, their suggestions can be submitted in Odnoklassniki and Instagram,'' said Media Chairman of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Tatarstan Anatoly Fomin.
It is being silent on the specified resource so far, the first was the offer to assign to the Kazan Airport the name of Mikhail Devyatayev.
No politicians
Experts will form a shortlist on October 15, then it will the second voting from the proposed variants. This time, they will select ten options from the list. On October 19, it will be another final list — this time out of ten figures for each airport. These names will go to the next stage. The second stage ends on November 7, at this stage there will three most popular names. These options will be on the final vote on the federal website Great Names of Russia. The vote is held from 8 to 30 November, the winners will be announced on December 5.
One of the basic requirements is that one cannot offer the names of politicians and statesmen from the past 100 years. It is important that there is a historical connection of the personality with the region.
''Among the options you can find Mikhail Devyataev, Queen Syuyumbike. Perhaps, someone will offer Leo Tolstoy, our city has many connections with him,'' said Fomin, but he himself found it difficult to tell which option he would prefer.
