Names and History in the Epoch of Mononymity (ca. 400-1100)

Actually, it's a free translation of the invitation for a German onomastic conference: http://e-onomastics.blogspot.de/2014/02/namen-und-geschichte-in-der-zeit-der.html

"Namen und Geschichte in der Zeit der Einnamigkeit" has been interpreted as "Names and History in the Epoch of Mononymity". The last term isn't an official one yet, but such expressions like "mononymous person" and "mononym" are to be found in the onomastic literature of today. It means "single name" and can be considered as antonym for "polynym".

In cooperation with the German Society of Onomastic Sciences,

the working group "Nomen et gens"

and the Tübingen Center of Premodern Europe

University of Tübingen, on the 30-31 May 201, will hold the meeting in German
