Third International Conference on Onomastics Name and Naming (ICONN 3)

The North University Centre of Baia Mare (Technical University of Cluj-Napoca) 

is pleased to announce the Third International Conference on Onomastics Name and Naming (ICONN 3), which will be held in September 1-3, 2015. The theme of this ICONN is "Conventional / Unconventional in Onomastics":

  • Conventional / Unconventional in Anthroponymy
  • Conventional / Unconventional in Toponymy
  • Conventional / Unconventional in Names in Public Space (e.g., commercial names etc.)
Official conference languages: Romanian, English, French, Italian, German, Spanish.

Timing: Every paper presentation is allotted 25 minutes (20 minutes for presentation + 5 minutes for discussions).

The venue: The conference will be held in the main building of “Petre Dulfu” County Library in Baia Mare. All conference rooms are equipped with computers and projectors. The computers all run on Windows XP and use Microsoft Office 2007. Most fonts and characters are supported. If you have a PowerPoint presentation, please make sure to save it in a format compatible with PowerPoint 2007.
There is WiFi internet connection at the conference venue, but also at the North University Centre and at the hotels.
“Petre Dulfu” County Library is located in the city centre and it is within a max. 10-minutes’ walk from all accommodation options.


1.12.2014 – 1.04.2015: submission of registration form (see the "Registration" section of this website) (abstracts: maximum 15 lines/150 words);

1 April 2015: notification of acceptance;

1 May 2015:  closing date for early registration (lei 350 / EUR 80);

1 June 2015: second circular letter and programme draft;

1 August 2015: third circular letter and final programme;

1-3 September 2015: The Third International Conference on Onomastics “Name and Naming”: Conventional/ Unconventional in Onomastics

1 October 2015: Full paper submission.
