Celebrating a Scholarly Legacy: Prof. Grasilda Blažienė Honored in the 90th Issue of Acta Linguistica Lithuanica



The recently published 90th issue of Acta Linguistica Lithuanica stands as a milestone in more ways than one. Dedicated to the renowned academician Prof. Habil. Dr. Grasilda Blažienė, this special edition not only marks the journal’s anniversary but also pays tribute to a scholar whose work has significantly shaped Lithuanian linguistics and beyond.

On this festive occasion, which coincides with Prof. Blažienė’s 75th birthday, the Lithuanian academic community gathered to celebrate her vast contributions. Her research, spanning Onomastics, Prussian, Lithuanian, and Baltic studies, has had a profound impact, reaching far beyond national borders. Her scholarly achievements are recognized both domestically and internationally, as highlighted by her receiving the prestigious Knight's Cross of the Order of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Gediminas from President Gitanas Nausėda.

In honor of her life’s work, the Library of the Institute of the Lithuanian Language has opened an exhibition titled Finding the Best, showcasing the breadth of her contributions. This event serves as a reminder of the vital role scholars like Prof. Blažienė play in preserving and advancing our linguistic heritage.
