On Friday, President Andrzej Duda signed a bill clearing the way for a removal of symbols commemorating the communist era in Poland. The authors of the legislation assure the citizens will able to keep their IDs and passports brandishing the unwanted street names until the documents expire. The new legislation, brought forward by Law and Justice senators, was nearly unanimously adopted by the Polish parliament in April. The law does not include monuments, obelisks or commemorative plaques. (aba)
