  1. Do not forget that we published this work within our World Names Series: https://mondonomo.ai/book/handbook-of-top-thai-names/ Reading and writing the Thai script is regarded as the most difficult linguistic skill when learning the Thai language. As the world becomes globalized, everybody needs to romanize their name into the Latin alphabet as names are the signs that we use to call each other regardless of what language we speak. The Royal Thai General System of Transcription (RTGS) is the official system for transcribing Thai words into Latin alphabets. The main purpose of this transcription is for transcribing Thai words in newspapers, official government publications, and road signs. The general Thai public hardly knows about this system, not to mention knows how to transcribe their names with it. Therefore, people come up with their own romanization of their names. It is very common to find two people with the same Thai names (both given names and surnames) but spelling their names differently in Latin alphabets. However, RTGS provides a general guideline of how Thai names are transcribed.
