que tendrán lugar en el auditorio Eduardo Loarca Castillo del Museo Regional de Querétaro los días 9, 10 y 11 de noviembre de 2021. Dependiendo de las condiciones sanitarias, actuales y por venir el evento se realizará en la modalidad presencial y a distancia.

Estas Jornadas se enfocan en la presentación de trabajos sobre los nombres de persona, tanto en América Latina, como en otras regiones del orbe. Dado que la antroponomástica es una multidisciplina, que se orienta a ser una transdisciplina, convocamos a lingüistas, antropólogos, historiadores, sociólogos, etc., que estudien esta categoría de nombres. Se presentarán ponencias abiertas en lengua española o en lengua portuguesa, que se inscribirán bajo las siguientes

bases

1. Se podrán inscribir trabajos científicos que tengan por objeto de estudio los nombres de persona.

2. Las exposiciones tendrán una duración de 20 minutos, con 10 minutos de discusión. No habrá mesas simultáneas, dado que la modalidad es mediante videoconferencia.

3. Deberá enviarse de manera electrónica una propuesta de ponencia (cuya extensión sea de entre 300 y 500 palabras), más bibliografía y palabras clave a la dirección-e seminario.onomastica@gmail.com La propuesta deberá incluir el tema del trabajo, su alcance, objetivo(s), metodología, además de —si es el caso— resultado(s) y conclusión (es) principal(es); fecha límite: viernes 30 de julio de 2021, para su revisión.

4. Enviar junto con la propuesta una hoja adicional que contenga los siguientes datos:

a) Nombre(s) completo(s) del / de los autor(es);
b) indicar si es investigador o estudiante;
c) institución a la que pertenece;
d) teléfonos; y
e) correo electrónico.

5. Se hará una selección de las propuestas con base en los criterios de la presente convocatoria. La selección tomará en cuenta el espacio disponible con que cuentan las Jornadas (tres días). Los resultados se darán a conocer a partir del viernes 27 de agosto de 2021 por correo electrónico.

Observatório onomástico (O-onoma) - a new network of researchers

The Observatório onomástico (O-onoma) [in English: Onomastic Observatory], created in 2020, is a network of researchers in the area of Onomastics in Brazil (in all its different lines of activity) that aims at the exchange of research findings, the cooperation between institutions, the drawing up and the development of interinstitutional projects.

Among the network's goals, we can highlight:

a) the increase in the visibility of the studies in the area;

b) the systematization of projects and publications in Onomastics;

c) the theoretical and applied description and analysis of the anthroponymy, the toponymy and other sets of proper names;

d) the identification of social demands regarding the creation, the registration and the description of proper names;

e) the drafting of social intervention proposals aiming at the fulfillment of the area's demands.

The Observatório onomástico, conceived by professors Eduardo Amaral (UFMG) and Márcia Seide (UNIOESTE), has interinstitutional character and is composed of members from different regions of the country, listed below.

Това изследване е част от общата тема "Езикови и селищни отношения в поречието на Янтра в светлината на топонимията", разработвана при Великотърновския университет. То продължава отпечатаните монографии "Местните названия от Севлиевско" (1961, 300 стр.), "Местните названия в Габровско" (1965, 200 стр.) и "Топонимията на Троянско" (1969, 264 стр.).
Основно материалите от терена бяха събрани през 1968 и 1974 г., а допълнителни проверки за отделни имена се направиха през 1976 и 1977 г. По места бяха използвани наличните емлячни регистри при общинските съвети, разномащабни карти при районните горски стопанства, краеведски проучвания и многобройни местни жители като осведомители, чиито имена посочваме в края на монографията.
Основната цел на "Местните имена в Дряновско" е чрез задълбочено тълкуване на местните имена да се разкрият наличните данни в тях и, доколкото е възможно, да се изяснят езиковите, етничните и селищни отношения в поречието на Дряновска река и на река Белица, десни притоци на Янтра, от дълбока древност до наши дни. С други думи — да се направи възможно използването на топонимията като извор за изясняване етногенезиса на населението в Дряновско, един от основните райони в северните склонове на Средна Стара планина. По този начин ще се подпомогне проучването на етногенезиса на населението от поречието на Янтра и в Североизточна България.
Дължим да изкажем най-сърдечна благодарност на всички административни и просветни дейци, на краеведи и информатори, които с готовност и вещина ни подпомогнаха да направим това изследване. Изказваме благодарността си и на основния рецензент ст. н. с. Георги Христов за задълбочената му и конкретна рецензия, която позволи да внесем редица уточнения по отделни имена и да се подобри монографията като цялост. Благодарим и на отговорния редактор проф. д-р Йордан Заимов за грижливото редактиране, което ни подпомогна да отстраним много неточности от етимологичен и стилов характер.

Conference postponed "Naming and Mapping the Gods in the Ancient Mediterranean"

We are glad to announce that the conference is postponed to February 2021, 10th to 12th (with the opening lecture on February 9th).

The Antiquity is a world full of gods. Far from being confined to their sanctuaries, the gods are rooted in the human environment in multiple ways: towns, crossroads, borders and boundaries, forests, mountains, the sea and many other spaces where they continue to dwell. Equally, they colonise imagined spaces, when poets and authors evoke their living areas or those that they move through during their different adventures. It is therefore logical that specialists on the Antiquity have studied the inscription of the divine in space for a long time already. In this perspective, the conference Naming and Mapping the gods in the Ancient Mediterranean. Spaces, Mobilities, Imaginaries hopes to bring together the competences and specialties of multiple disciplines – archaeology, history, geography, anthropology, history of religions, philology, reception, social network analysis – in order to consider new documentation corpora concerning the intersection between the divine and space. Furthermore, the conference aims to differentiate itself by proposing an innovative angle of approach, inspired by the themes of the ERC MAP project: the intersection between the spaces and designations of the gods. The ways of naming the divine powers, given that they are envisaged as ways to define, characterise, differentiate, but also to connect, effectively constitute many indexes of a dynamic and complex “mapping” of the divine.

The conference will be held from the 10th to the 12th February 2021. The opening lecture is scheduled for February 9th 2021.

The face-to-face sessions will take place at the Maison de la Recherche, Université Toulouse II Jean Jaurès, Toulouse, France (see. Access).

Another “face of God". The representation of the God-Altar in the Near-Eastern Roman Era between Onomastics and Archaeology

This presentation aims to analyze an exemplary case of the cultural reworking and syncretism in the Ancient Near East. The focus will be the altar, the Bomos/mdbk', which means both the ritual act itself and the divine power to which it is dedicated, almost in the form of a synecdoche. The transversal presence in the oriental cultures of this cultural element (Greek, Aramaic, Nabataean, etc.) allows the creation of a chronological path whose point of arrival is the North Syrian cult of Zeus Bomos/Madbachos attested still in the 2nd and 3rd century CE.

This research starts with discussing the process of association of divine power to an object or a ritual object, passing through the notions of "aniconism" and "image ban", and then it lands to the case of the divinity-altar that pervades the Near Eastern cultural fabric and is performed in the most varied cultural contexts. Most of the sources which, with more or less certainty, attest to the existence of this process, whereby the altar represents the very image of the god, as well as his power, are concentrated in the Roman Era, although the aniconic phenomenon is much older.

Three case studies will be considered: Dushara-A'ra, the God-altar of Bostra associated with Dushara, the chef deity of the Nabataean pantheon; the case of Zeus-Altar present in the Northern Syria both in Greek and in Aramaic, and; finally, the case of a Zeus-hammana or Zeus of the hammana in Jerash, which is more complex to outline. The purpose of this presentation is to explore the divine representations of the Hellenistic Imperial Age in the Near East, which is not only the result of a process of osmosis and reworking of the ancient cultures, but also a new and peculiar cultural product, well distinct from the cultures of departure

In Poland, the assessment of science and research institutions is based mainly on the sum of “points” collected by staff members for their publications. Points for publications are assigned according to de facto arbitrarily predefined lists of journals indicating that for a paper in some journals a researcher gets 20 points, for a paper in other journals 40, while further journals are given 70, 100, 140 or 200 points. As a matter of fact, it is only the place of publication and not the paper content and quality that counts. A single work may be given 20, 40, 70, 100, 140 or 200 points depending solely on the predefined journal value. Therefore, the value preassigned to journals is of vital importance in the case of highly specialized sub-disciplines.

The only Polish (and one of the world’s few) onomastic journals, the journal ONOMASTICA, has been preassigned only 20 points, which means that high quality onomastic papers that have limited chances of being published elsewhere in other more generally themed journals are a priori undervalued by the Polish science evaluation system. This creates a general disadvantage for onomastic research in Poland.

ONOMASTICA is a longstanding multilingual onomastic journal published by the Institute of the Polish Language, Polish Academy of Sciences, as an Open Access journal and requires no fees or charges for submission processing or publishing. YouTube Channel "Toponimia de Galicia" celebrated its first birthday in October 2020

While summing up information regarding names-related media, I've stumbled upon a very interesting YouTube Channel "Toponimia de Galicia" that had been started in October 2019. It means this channel celebrated its first birthday in October 2020.

It's being made up by the Real Academia Galega on the base of the portal " "Toponimia de Galicia". In each video, its seminar of Onomastics analyses the etymology of the corresponding place-name in Galicia. I appriciate a lot this kind of the scientific popularization.

Josep Moran, 25 years at the head of the Onomastic Department

After 25 years of service as Director of the Department of Onomastics at the Institute for Catalan Studies, Josep Moran i Ocerinjauregui (1944) decided to resign from the post. Society of Onomastics expressed its deepest gratitude for all his works and service.

The new director is Enric Ribes i Marí (1955), who was the President of the Commission of Onomastics.

In his turn, Joan Peytaví i Deixona (1968), Director of the Franco-Catalan Cross-Border Institute, took charge of the Commission of Onomastics.

Half a Century of Onomastic Research in Karelia

The article marks the 50th anniversary of onomastic research in Karelia which has brought about 12 monographs and dictionaries, as well as several hundred articles. The paper summarizes the most important advances made by the research team in local toponymy studies: a typology of the Balto-Finniс toponyms, the peculiarities of Karelian and Vepsian name motivation, and the ways that Karelian and Vepsian names are adapted to the Russian naming system.

The development of methods of areal typology allowed the researchers to restore the picture of ethno-linguistic history of Karelia and adjacent territories, based on toponymic evidence. In the field of anthroponymy, the progress relates to the identification of numerous Karelian folk variants of Orthodox names and the reconstruction of medieval male and female personal names system of Karelians and Vepsians. The latter also proved the fact that non-calendar Russian names were actively used among the Karelians at the turn of the Middle Ages and the Modern Times.

Particular attention is given to the research team’s activity and achievements in the field of onomastic lexicography, which produced a number of toponymic dictionaries of different types. The important role of the continuous fieldwork of Karelian toponymists, carried out both in the territory of Karelia and outside the republic, is noted.

Ultimately, the work of three generations of researchers has been brought together in a comprehensive toponymic card-index comprising 300.000 units in Karelian, Veps, and Russian, as well as its electronic version (GIS Toponymy of Karelia) with additional mapping and analytical functionalities.

«Имя страны: Белоруссия и её название в языках народов мира»

К обсуждению предлагаются следующие проблемы:

Формирование традиции обозначения белорусских земель как целого в различных языках;
Трансформации официальных наименований Белоруссии как исторической области и государства в XIX-XXI вв. и повлиявшие на них факторы.

К обсуждению проблемы приглашаются историки, филологи, этнологи, культурологи.

Место проведения «круглого стола»: Институт славяноведения РАН, Москва, Ленинский проспект, 32А, корпус «В». В силу обстоятельств на данный момент предполагается проведение круглого стола в заочном формате (ZOOM). Продолжительность выступления – до 15 мин. Рабочие языки конференции: русский, белорусский, английский, польский.
