Call for Papers: 2027 American Name Society Annual Meeting

 The American Name Society (ANS) is inviting proposals for its 2027 Annual Meeting, which will take place online via Zoom on 20 February 2027. Unlike in some previous years, the conference will not be held in conjunction with the Linguistic Society of America meeting.

Submissions are welcome from across the field of onomastics, including research on personal names, place names, commercial and institutional names, name theory, literary onomastics, and related topics.

Each proposal should include a paper title, a 250-word abstract, a 100-word program abstract, and a 50-word biographical note. Submissions must be made using the ANS Author Information Form and emailed to abstracts@americannamesociety.org, with “ANS2027” in the subject line.

The deadline for submissions is 31 October 2026. All proposals will undergo blind review, and acceptance notifications are expected by 15 November 2026. Authors of accepted papers must be current ANS members and register for the meeting.

The virtual format once again offers an excellent opportunity for onomastics scholars from around the world to participate in the society’s annual conference.
