14th Conference on Frisian Linguistics – Call for Papers

 Looking ahead to December, the Fryske Akademy is once again bringing the Frisian linguistics community together. The 14th Conference on Frisian Linguistics will take place on 11 December 2026 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.

This one-day meeting is open to everyone who works with Frisian linguistics - whether actively researching or simply following the field with interest. Topics range widely across grammar, phonetics and phonology, onomastics, lexicology, sociolinguistics, and historical linguistics. Papers that present finished research results are of course welcome, but so are research plans, speculative ideas, and presentations of linguistic corpora.

Each paper is allotted 30 minutes (20 minutes for the talk and 10 minutes for discussion). Presentations may be given in any of the West-Germanic languages.

The Frisian Academy (Fryske Akademy) organizes its annual meeting in October this year. The thirteenth Conference on Frisian linguistics will be of interest to anyone who actively or passively participates in Frisian linguistics: grammar, phonetics/phonology, onomastics, lexicology, sociolinguistics, historical linguistics.

Papers may focus on the results of scientific research, but presentations of research plans, of speculations or of linguistic corpora are also welcome. The time allotted for a paper is 30 minutes (20 minutes talk, 10 minutes discussion). They may be presented in any of the West-Germanic languages.

The tenth Conference on Frisian Linguistics will be of interest to anyone who actively or passively participates in Frisian linguistics: grammar, phonetics/phonology, onomastics, lexicology, sociolinguistics, historical linguistics. Papers may focus on the results of scientific research, but presentations of research plans, of speculations or of language corpora are also welcome. They may be presented in any of the West-Germanic languages.
